Launched as a pioneering initiative, SFAL 1.0 laid the foundation for India’s semiconductor fabless startup ecosystem. Over the course of a successful five-year journey, it empowered early-stage innovators with access to advanced design tools, expert mentorship, and critical infrastructure support. Through this initiative, SFAL 1.0 helped transform ideas into working prototypes, laying the groundwork for India’s journey toward self-reliance in semiconductor innovation.

Runtime reconfigurable processor architectures

Morphing Machines is a deep-tech semiconductor startup that developed REDEFINE™, the world’s first truly runtime reconfigurable many-core processor. Incubated at SFAL 1.0, the startup leveraged access to advanced design infrastructure and ecosystem support to translate cutting-edge research into a high-performance computing solution.

ABCRL

Incubated at SFAL, AB Circuits and Research Labs (ABCRL), founded in 2019, is driving innovation in automotive semiconductors with Tire Synapse, a smart tyre monitoring ASIC that enables wear prediction, balance assessment, and more. Supported by India’s Chips to Startup (C2S) scheme and tested at IIT Indore’s CEVITS, ABCRL is moving toward its first chip tape-out, contributing to India’s ambition of becoming a global silicon leader.

Calligo Technologies

A Bengaluru-based fabless semiconductor startup founded in 2012, Calligo Technologies is advancing HPC, AI/ML, and Big Data with innovations like CRISP-core and TUNGA Silicon. SFAL’s first industry partner and a beneficiary of India’s DLI Scheme, Calligo combines deep VLSI expertise with global foundry partnerships to shape the future of high-performance computing.
